Thinking of purchasing a new PC, wait until you read this.

Your cerebrum will get hit by the sleek design and contour if you happen to glance at an "Ultrabook." The Ultrabook got conceptualized by the Intel in 2011 to deliver a high quality portable hybrid between the laptop and a tablet. After reviewing the CES Awards, I felt that this will be the year where consumers would be flooded with the rise of new and faster Ultrabooks.

Why Ultrabook ?

  • Lack of leading-edge concept & design in PCs.
  • Unquenchable and scanty specs of the netbooks.
  • Obese chassis of a laptop (enough to give you 'RSI').
  • Morbid performance of the initial available tablets.
  • Did I forget to add, "Thanks to the 1st iPad launch by "Steve Jobs" in 2010.

The above mentioned reasons pushed the Intel and the various OEMs to revamp the hardware specs and performance that yielded an Ultrabook to emanate from a better concept in the tech market. Although the Windows 7 was turning out to be a major blockbuster for the Microsoft but still the above mentioned factors were hampering the new PC sales and collectively affecting the market for Intel and rest of the OEMs.

Ultrabook Cons (In comparison to a standard laptop)
  • Price
  • Limited Ports
  • Limited Hard Drive/SSD Storage
  • Usually, No Built-In Optical Disc Drive (There are exceptions).

Typically and unlike your desktop or laptop, most of the Ultrabooks (with few exceptions) lack the built-in optical disc drive to play any CD/DVD/Blu-ray. Nowadays, all your digital content (photos, music, movies, videos and more) is available online, and alternatively, you can store it on your PC, iPod, iPad or use cloud. However, If you still wish to write or rip a CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc, then you have to buy or borrow an USB powered external CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc drive to meet your needs especially if you are an audiophile or a HD movie buff like me.

The prices of the Ultrabooks are likely to come down. Since, the SSDs are more expensive than the standard hard drives, it is one of the main factor that vividly explains the expensiveness of most of the Ultrabooks as compared to the laptops.

Ultrabooks can deliver better performance synergistically with the new features of Microsoft's Windows 10. Some of those features are;

  • Finally, Start Menu is Back
  • New App Store
  • Faster Boot Up
  • Windows Reset
  • Windows To Go
  • Windows Refresh
  • New Edge Browser
  • Super Speed USB C
  • Redesigned Task Manager
  • Built-In Antivirus Protection
  • New Ribbon Toolbar In Windows Explorer

Ideally, an Ultrabook is suitable for those who happen to travel a lot and always find their deblitated lithium-ion battery dead before completing indispensable tasks. The new line of Ultrabooks possesses a strong appeal among the consumers because of its portability and performance. The design of the Ultrabook provides a nice aesthetic compliment to any work-station.

Students would like to prefer the fresh form factor and portability as it gives them a lucid rational for replacing their bulky, sluggish and older laptops. I have come across several corporate employees using and liking the new Ultrabooks. This is indeed a good indicator of its usage and popularity. However, the mass adoption might take some time.

Silicon valley engineers have worked hard in designing the recent generation of ULV chips to integrate with the Ultrabooks. Intel along with the OEMs have decently delivered a conciliating product to mollify the customers. Ultrabook solitarily delivers the portability of a tablet clubbed with the premium performance of a laptop.

The Ultrabooks have become a new emerging trend in the consumer electronics and gradually happen to replace the chunky laptops. If you are looking for a machine that delivers high quality performance with sleek and ergonomic portability then the best alternative is Ultrabooks instead of a standard laptop. This year you can find a brand new series of Ultrabooks from most of the OEMs, including - Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, Acer, Asus, HP, Dell, Lenovo at your nearest store. Go check the "Touchscreen Ultrabooks" if you have not.

When "iPad" Turns Into A Poet

                    david castillo dominici

I get on with life as the iPad.

I adore my 'Retina display,'
I adore my musical date with 'iTunes,'
I like to lean back and play with 'Kids'
But, when I am left alone,
My mind turns straight to 'Apple.'

I adore using 'Apps,'
I adore using 'FaceTime' and 'Siri,'
I like to wink my 'iSight,'
But, when I need an update,
My mind turns straight to 'Apple.'

I adore photos anytime,
I adore music as my pastime,
I like to contemplate 'iCloud.'
But, when I start to daydream,
My mind turns straight to 'Apple.'

I am neither fond of 'Samsung' nor 'Google,'
I avoid 'Android and Flash,'
I deeply miss 'Steve Jobs,'
But then, I just think back to 'Apple,'
And I am happy once again.
